Posted by Elçin | Under Haftasonu Lezzetleri Saturday Mar 10, 2012I have a soft spot for orange! Love orange candies, fresh squeezed orange juice and all kind of orange treats. If you’re like me, here is a great recipe which you can make with orange peels.
Ingredients:
4 oranges
3 cups of sugar
Water
Remove the peels of oranges and slice them into thin strips. Place the peels in boiling water and blanch them a couple of times. Remove and rinse the peels and repeat this process a second time. This step is suppose to remove bitterness from the peels.
Then prepare a simple syrup by combining 3 cups of sugar and 5 cups of water. Dissolve the sugar and boil this mix with orange peels and simmer it about 30 – 40 minutes. Once this process is done, remove them from the pot and pat dry with a paper towel and cover it in sugar. And voila!
If you like Turkish Coffee, do remember that orange candy is a great company for Turkish Coffee as well!
Have a nice weekend pals

Posted by Elçin | Under Haftasonu Lezzetleri Saturday Mar 3, 2012I am a fruit person and pomegranate is one of my favorites. Especially juicy fruits mean a lot to me. When I was browsing around, I’ve seen this pomegranate jam on Cafe Fernando – which is my favorite food blog at all times! I have decided to try this recipe with my own style but I think I cooked it much more than I supposed to, so if you want to try pomegranate recipe please do follow Cenk‘s recipe.
Here is how i made it:
Ingredients:
4 pomegranates’ juice
1 pomegranate seeds
2 and a half cups of sugar
1 lemon juice
Squeeze 4 pomegranates and keep 1 pomegranate seeds. Mix pomegranate juice and 2 and a half cups of sugar in a pot. Cook this mix in medium heat and stir it constantly. There will be pink foam on jam, skim this off. Add lemon juice and cook it 5 more minutes and add seeds. I cooked 10 – 12 more minutes because it seemed so liquid to me but I think 5 more minute is enough to have a good jam. Finally, put your jam in a sterilized jar and enjoy your delicious jam in these winter days!
Lovez,
Elcin
